70 Years of Alpine: Powered by Excellence

Alpine may be spread across different locations, but every site pulses with the same competitive DNA. Episode 6 of the brand’s 70th-anniversary series shines a spotlight on this shared spirit of excellence that unites the entire Alpine ecosystem.

F1 Experiences

From the beginning, motorsport has defined Alpine’s identity. Founder Jean Rédélé embedded a racing mindset into every corner of the company — a philosophy that continues to guide Alpine’s teams today. CEO Philippe Krief reflects on how this spirit shapes daily life inside the brand.

“It’s a spirit made of determination, courage, rigour, but also humility. Because every day, we challenge ourselves, just like in motorsports. That’s the Alpine spirit.”
Philippe Krief, Alpine CEO

A Motorsport-Born Culture

Whether in Formula 1 or Endurance racing, where the brand recently celebrated its 100th FIA WEC Championship victory, Alpine’s teams push themselves to the limit. The culture is one of constant progress — driven by tenacity, technical mastery, and a relentless search for performance.

Alpine Formula One Team Technical Director David Sanchez sees this mindset in action every day:

“I think we’re all constantly talking about innovation, with this obsession with the next idea — how we’re going to design a better car.”
David Sanchez, Technical Director, Alpine F1 Team

For Alpine Formula One Team Operations Director Ian Pearce, this spirit is what binds the organisation together, from trackside to factory floor — one team working toward a common goal: excellence.

As Alpine celebrates 70 years, this competitive culture remains its greatest strength. It’s the force that shaped the brand’s past — and the one that will drive its next chapter.

About Alpine

Founded in 1955 by Jean Rédélé, Alpine has become an icon of French automotive performance, renowned for its pure, elegant approach to sports-car engineering. In 2018, the brand reignited its legacy with the new A110 — a model that remains true to Alpine’s timeless principles of compactness, lightness, agility, and sheer driving pleasure.

In 2021, the Alpine Business Unit was established, uniting the heritage of the historic Dieppe factory with the engineering excellence of Alpine Racing and Alpine Cars. Operating within Renault Group, Alpine continues to innovate, creating authentic, exclusive sports cars that embody both tradition and forward-looking ambition.

This technical and racing expertise enables Alpine to compete at the highest levels of motorsport, including the FIA Formula 1 World Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship. Beyond these flagship programmes, Alpine remains active across multiple disciplines through its customer racing activities in Rally, Cup and GT4.

The year 2024 marks a major milestone in Alpine’s evolution with the launch of its 100% electric “Dream Garage.” The A290 — a high-performance electric hot hatch — leads this new era, with Alpine’s first electric sport fastback, the A390, set to follow in 2025.
