Motorsport games have been evolving alongside other big gaming genres in the world. They have also been used by racers to help them understand the basic aspects of target sport and develop their skills.

The Games

As the development of games has improved, the games themselves have been only getting better over time. They have given players environments that are close to the real things that racers have to drive in, as well as physicians of the car and what you need to do for the whole race to give yourself the best chance of winning.

This all starts with the improvements of games as a whole, with impressive games like Gran Turismo and racing Assetto Corsa being impressively realistic games that are popular in the motorsport gaming industry.

These games have accurate car models and impressive physics that allow players to get a good feel for the cars as a whole.

How Can Games Improve Your Skills In Real Life?

There are many ways that these games can improve your overall driving skills, especially in a racing atmosphere, and one of the biggest is the improvement of your reaction times.

Now, we are not saying that a racer who plays motorsport games will have better odds than their fellow racers; however, a racer who plays these games can see some improvements in their racing skills than if they had never played them previously.

Hand-eye coordination is key to racing as you need to make sure you have full focus with every turn and overtake you may try.

As well as this, acting out the races and the strategy that you will be driving in is important for any chance of winning that you have. Not only is it important for how you drive, how you look after the car and the timing of potential pit stops you will need to make. These can obviously be important to racers, as timing in races may make the difference in your finishing position.

Understanding the racing lines is another massive element of the sport as a whole because practising the speed you take corners and straights in the game is a good way of feeling comfortable on the track before you race on it in real life.

Are There Any Examples Of This Happening?

I think it is easy to listen to our point and think we are being hyperbolic; however, there have been examples of racers playing these games to make themselves better for the eventuality of one of these happening in a real race.

Two Formula One examples are Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, who have both been open about their usage of games to help them on the track. Norris is a great example as he has been known to stream his gaming sessions and show how these virtual races are a part of his training routine that makes him one of the best racers in the world.

Also, it isn’t just in F1 where players use these; a Gran Turismo Academy graduate transitioned from being a gamer to a motorsport professional; you may be familiar with Jann Mardenborough as he had a film about his life named Gran Turismo, which came out last year. He is one of the more prominent examples of gaming being useful in the motorsport industry and has allowed fans to dream that one day, and they could make the jump as well.

Should Gaming Be A Factor To Consider When Predicting Motorsport Outcomes?

Bettors are always looking for extra advantages and factors that they can rely on when making motorsport predictions, whether it be online or possibly for monetary gains, like through motorsport betting.

There are many crucial factors such as the ability of the racers in comparison to their opponents, recent form, weather conditions, etc. However, gaming is never considered as one to rely on. If a racer is an avid motorsport gamer, this won’t affect their odds. There are plenty of excellent betting sites for motor racing fans where you can see the live odds for each racer and also recent tips for them going into a race. They will tell you themselves that gaming is not really a factor due to it not being that important in the grand scheme of things. Nevertheless, the argument that gaming makes you a better racer overall is valid.
