54. Khaldoon Al Mubarak

Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak is an Emirati Government official and business leader. Al Mubarak was born on 1 December 1975 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He is from a family of diplomats and religious and judicial scholars. Khaldoon’s father was the former UAE diplomat and ambassador to France, Khalifa Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Mubarak, who was assassinated in Paris in 1984.

As Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of Mubadala, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak has led the company’s significant evolution for two decades. Through organic growth, acquisitions, and mergers, Mubadala has become a $284 billion business with assets in more than 50 countries across six international offices. With a global and entrepreneurial mindset, Mubadala is a responsible sovereign investor that generates sustainable financial returns for its shareholder, the Government of Abu Dhabi.

In addition to his commercial responsibilities, Khaldoon holds several UAE Government and Abu Dhabi Government responsibilities, including being a Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council since 2006; a Founding Member of Abu Dhabi’s Supreme Council for Financial and Economic Affairs; Presidential Special Envoy to China since 2018; and Founding Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority, which has provided strategic policy advice to the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council since 2006.

Khaldoon also serves on the Boards of several essential businesses, including the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and serves as the Chairman of the Boards of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Emirates Global Aluminium and City Football Group.

Khaldoon Co-Chairs the Abu Dhabi-Singapore Joint Forum and the UAE-France Strategic Dialogue. He is also a member of the New York University Board of Trustees.

As Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Motor Sport Management Company (ADMM), Al Mubarak worked to bring auto racing to the region and negotiated the deal with FIA for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Formula One motor race. The deal was officially announced in early 2007 at the Abu Dhabi F1 Festival in the UAE.

Al Mubarak is married to Nadia Sehweil. The couple first met when they were both in high school, and they have three children. Nadia, of Palestinian descent, runs a yoga, pilates, and dance studio called Bodytree Studio in Abu Dhabi with her mother.

In 2007, Al Mubarak was made Commander of the Star of the Order of the Italian Solidarity to support the “economic relationship” between Italy and the UAE. In 2013, he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) and received the Grand Gwanghwa Medal, the highest class of the South Korean Order of Diplomatic Service Merit.
