After graduating from Cambridge in 1991, James Allison joined the aerodynamics department of the Benetton Formula One team. He later moved to Larrousse as Head of Aerodynamics before returning to Benetton as Head of Aerodynamics in the mid-1990s. In 2000, however, he switched to Ferrari for five years, before returning to Benetton (by then known as Renault F1) in the role of Deputy Technical Director in 2005. After a few more changes and shifts he finally officially re-joined Ferrari F1 Team as Chassis Technical Director in 2013; he currently holds the position.
